Post-Operative Aftercare Training
Foundations in Post-Operative Care
This training is a beginner-friendly introduction to post-operative care, providing the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to start working safely and confidently with post-surgical patients. It focuses on building a strong understanding of how the body responds after cosmetic surgery and how to support recovery through appropriate techniques and decision-making.
About the Training
The course is delivered in person in London in a small, focused setting. Group sizes are limited to a maximum of four students per session so there is time for individual attention. A strong emphasis is placed on practical learning, including working on real post-operative patients to help build confidence with real cases.
What You Will Learn
This training covers the fundamentals of post-operative care, including Manual Lymphatic Drainage adapted for cosmetic surgery, understanding swelling and fluid movement, early-stage fibrosis awareness, scar tissue basics, compression management including foams, boards, and garments, recognising when recovery is not progressing as expected, and understanding the stages of healing.
Training Structure
Day 1 introduces essential theory, including the lymphatic system, contraindications, and how the body responds after surgery. This is followed by practical work where you will learn lymphatic techniques adapted to post-surgical patients, as well as an introduction to compression management, including foams, boards, and garment fit.
Day 2 is fully practical and focused on working on real post-operative patients. You will apply what you have learned, building confidence in handling different stages of recovery.
Who This Training Is For
This training is suitable for qualified massage therapists and medical professionals. It is not suitable for beauty therapists without massage training, as a solid understanding of anatomy and hands-on bodywork is required.
Ongoing Support
Support does not end after the training. You will receive one year of mentoring, so you can ask questions, discuss cases, and get guidance as you begin working with your own post-operative clients.
Progression
This course provides the foundation. For those looking to develop further, a 1:1 intensive training is available, which goes deeper into technique and understanding.
